Through advances in DNA analysis, has been identified that there are 14 Ancient Dog Breeds. The descendants of this dog show the fewest genetic differences from wolves. The descendants of these dogs come from a diverse geography, including dogs from Africa, Alaska, China, Japan, Siberia, and Tibet.
Fourteen descendants of the ancient breed are:
Afghan Hound, Akita Inu, Alaskan Malamute, Basenji, Chow Chow, Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, Saluki, Samoyed, Shar Pei, Shiba Inu, Shih Tzu, Siberian Husky, Tibetan Terrier.
