MSN (initially Microsoft Network) is Microsoft's official portal offering news, sports, games, video, entertainment, celebrity gossip, and weather. MSN is also a collection of sites and services provided by Microsoft such as Windows Live, Hotmail, and Messenger. Microsoft uses the MSN brand name to promote a variety of web-based services. The most popular service was Hotmail and Messenger. Hotmail is a free web email service while the Messenger (originally known as 'MSN Messenger Service' and later shortened to just 'MSN Messenger') is an instant messaging service.
